This partnership’s mission is to bring about inclusive economic growth and sustainability for local residents, employers and workers, initially impacted by the Jerome Avenue rezoning, but which became more pressing as a result of the economic, social and political impacts on the community caused by the COVID-19 crisis.
BXEDC is a founding member of JARC and a member of its steering committee, working in partnership with other organizations. Most recently, BXEDC has been focused on seeking greater access to capital for businesses along the Jerome Avenue corridor and connecting businesses to various resources that are offered by the New York City Department of Small Business Services (SBS), the Small Business Development Center at Lehman College (SBDC), SCORE (formerly known as the Service Corps of Retired Executives) and sometimes the U.S. Chamber of Commerce and the Bronx Chamber of Commerce. These resources, which are often free of charge, provide valuable webinars, in both English and Spanish, to hone skills that are critical to business success.
